OPSEC FAIL.

So, there I was on Wednesday.  Leaving the ranch at dusk to drive to town to pick up the wife for dinner (she had to go to Limon, CO for a business seminar).  I looked over to the neighbor's mobile home across the street from my driveway and do a triple take.  The mobile home was missing.  I hope they moved out (they enjoy dumping their trash on their fence line and letting the wind blow it onto my property.  Missing.  It's the biggest thing near my house.

So I call my good friend from down the street.  He confirms that they "moved" out on New Year's day.  3 days before.  My neighbor's craphole single wide had been moved for 3 DAYS before I noticed.  How could I miss that?

Shameful.

But, at least if SHTF, that is one family I don't have to worry about.  They seemed ill prepared for anything, and seemed to be the kind of animals that would raid our house at a drop of a hat.

Hopefully their land will be for sale soon so you preppers that need a Colorado retreat among friends can come build next door.

  1. Mudbug, What kind of distance between your place and yours??. Colorado is tempting, but it could be 6 mos to a year before we can move. Wife wants to go back to MN.

  2. Sorry you missed it for three days, but it sounds like it's good news that they left. If you could get that land now to prevent having anyone else that close that would be good too.

  3. Aliens. Definitely aliens. Don't know it the neighbors were abducted, or if they finished their survey and left.

  4. Isn't the most obvious things that we fail to see/observe or pay attention to. Focusing on so many small things and having a busy life. At least you did notice finally.

  5. Mobile Homes burn real easily. Bullets also fly through them. If you lucky maybe a group of Mexican Midget Wrestlers will move in were the "Mobile Home Mobsters" used to live.

You could wind up with a having a bunch of topless dancers move in with their own "Love Shack" trailer.

    That could be interesting.

I live near an old mobile home park, trust me I've seen it all including meth lab fires, prostitution, drug dealers etc. One time we had a rash of car batteries being stolen and taken to the trailer park for the acid to be used in the meth lab (which later burned down in two different fires at different times)

  6. Ya'll are giving me a "complex" about the single wide tin can we've crammed 12 of us into....lol. Though, we do use trash cans and we do take them to the dump once a week, so I guess we're clean trailer trash:)

Anyway - I could see missing it being gone for a few days too, and then being shocked when I realized it. I hope who ever buys the land is more to your liking.

  8. For about 11 years we had a neighbor that dumped his trash on the hill side and it always rolled down on our fence. None of our neighbors are close to us but I still did not want to make them mad (we have cow's didnt want any fences cut etc..) So for 11 years when I made my weekly trips around our fence lines I made sure to take the truck as close to that area as I could so I could clear anything off our fence and haul it away in the truck. Was glad when they moved!

  11. Reminds me of the time my son, daughter-in-law, and nephew stopped by my house for a couple of days when I was out of town. They were driving a U-haul as they were moving from Washington to Louisiana. With the U-haul parked on my driveway for a couple days, they shot my weapons, lit off my fireworks, and acted like animals. None of the neighbors noticed.
